Mission

Scripture teaches that the purpose of life is to glorify God in all things (1 Cor. 10:31; 2 Cor. 5:9; Col. 3:17). This is not merely a phrase to use when we are at church or involved in conversations about spiritual matters. Rather, every moment of life – every breath, action, thought, and desire – is to be lived for the praise and glory of the only true and living God.

It is God alone who created me, sustains me, provides for me, and has made fellowship with Him possible through the saving work of Jesus Christ alone. My own sin separated me from God and made me His enemy. Even so, Christ died in my place to pay the just demands of my crimes against God so that by believing in Christ alone I might have my sins forgiven and receive eternal fellowship with God. All this is according to God’s sovereign plan to provide the greatest good I can possibly receive – the forgiveness of my sins that results in eternal fellowship with the highest being in existence. There is no greater good in life than to glorify God in all things. 

Vision

Scripture reveals Jesus Christ as the only person whom God the Father ever declared that He was “well-pleased” with. This declaration is recorded at Christ’s baptism and at His transfiguration (Matt. 3:17; Mark 1:11; Luke 3:22; Matt. 17:5; Mark 9:7). Because of this, if my mission (purpose) is to glorify God in all things, my vision (how I fulfill my mission/purpose) must be to pursue Christlikeness in all things.

It is this truth that led to Mr. Reaching. I am a sinner whose sins were forgiven by the grace of God alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone, according to Scripture alone, all to the glory of God alone. By God’s grace and mercy, I will spend my remaining days reaching for Christlikeness in all areas of life. There is no other way to fulfill my purpose in life, to glorify Him, than to be as much as possible like the only person whom He ever said, “…in whom I am well-pleased,” Jesus Christ.

Foundation

The Mission and Vision of Mr. Reaching come from Scripture. This is because the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are the final authority for all matters pertaining to life and godliness (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:3). Scripture also commands that God’s Word be handled with diligence and care (2 Tim. 2:15; 2 Pet 1:20). For this reason, Mr. Reaching is founded on a literal, historical, grammatical method of study (hermeneutics). This method provides the foundation for my Mission, shapes the Vision, and guides the pursuit of Christlikeness in all things. The pursuit of Christlikeness must always be grounded in a faithful, careful, and accurate study of God’s Word.
